Abstraction

Combined year on year (y-on-y) inflation for eight cities in October 2023 is 3.25 percent. The combined month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate for 8 cities in October 2023 was 0.27 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 116.89.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in most expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 7.03 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.84 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 1.83 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 2.56 percent; health group at 3.02 percent; transportation group at 0.86 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.18 percent; education group of 2.11 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 3.19 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 4.77 percent. The information, communication and financial services group experienced a decline in the index of 0.11 percent.
At the city level, the highest y-on-y inflation in October 2023 occurred in Sumenep at 5.29 percent with a CPI of 118.94 and the lowest occurred in Madiun at 2.41 percent with a CPI of 114.45.
The y-on-y inflation rate for October 2023 for the energy component was 0.25 percent, on an m-to-m basis inflation was 0.61 percent.
The y-on-y inflation rate for October 2023 for the food component was 7.56 percent, on an m-to-m basis inflation was 0.43 percent.
