Abstraction

Inflation year on year (y-on-y) combined for eight cities in August 2023 was 4.13 percent. The combined month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate for 8 cities in August 2023 was 0.11 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 116.21.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.16 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 2.90 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 1.85 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 3.02 percent; the health group by 3.96 percent; transportation group by 9.00 percent; recreation, sport and culture group by 1.85 percent; the education group by 2.24 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 4.41 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 4.52 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.12 percent.
At the city level, the highest y-on-y August 2023 inflation occurred in Sumenep at 4.72 percent with a CPI of 117.35 and the lowest occurred in Madiun at 3.16 percent with a CPI of 113.87.
The inflation rate y-on-y in August 2023 for the energy component was 12.06 percent, on a m-to-m basis, inflation was 0.04 percent.
The inflation rate y-on-y in August 2023 for the food component was 4.68 percent, on a m-to-m basis, it experienced a deflation of 0.16 percent.
