Abstraction

• The export value of East Java in May 2021 reached USD 1.69 billion or decreased by 13.14 percent compared to April 2021. This value compared to May 2020 actually increased by 51.26 percent.

• Non-oil and gas exports in May 2021 reached USD 1.56 billion or decreased by 11.43 percent compared to April 2021. This value compared to May 2020 increased by 42.29 percent.

• Oil and gas exports in May 2021 reached USD 125.83 million or decreased by 29.97 percent compared to April 2021. This value increased by 593.78 percent compared to May 2020.

• The main categories of non-oil and gas exports in May 2021 are Copper (HS 74) with a value of USD 180.44 million, followed by Jewelry/Gems (HS 71) with a value of USD 153.49 million, and Animal/vegetable Fats and Oils (HS 15). ) with a value of USD 129.29 million.

• Cumulatively, during January - May 2021, exports out of East Java amounted to USD 8.87 billion, an increase of 7.45 percent compared to January - May 2020.

• The largest non-oil and gas export destination country in January - May 2021 was the United States which reached USD 1.27 billion (with a role of 15.82 percent) followed by exports to Japan amounting to USD 1.26 billion (with a role of 15.71 percent) and to China of USD 1.04 billion (with a role of 12.91 percent). Non-oil and gas exports to the ASEAN region reached USD 1.49 billion (with a contribution of 18.51 percent), while non-oil and gas exports to the European Union amounted to USD 703.81 million (with a contribution of 8.74 percent).

• The value of East Java's imports in May 2021 reached USD 2.08 billion or decreased by 13.27 percent compared to April 2021. This figure increased by 64.34 percent compared to May 2020.

• Non-oil and gas imports in May 2021 reached USD 1.51 billion, a decrease of 22.15 percent compared to April 2021. The value of non-oil and gas imports increased by 35.82 percent compared to May 2020.

• Oil and gas imports in May 2021 amounted to USD 568.90 million, an increase of 24.30 percent compared to April 2021. Compared to May 2020, this value also increased by 270.73 percent.

• The main categories of non-oil and gas imports in May 2021 are Machinery/Mechanical Aircraft (HS 84) for USD 142.12 million, followed by Dregs/Remaining food industry goods for USD 128.79 million and Iron and Steel goods ( HS 72) amounting to USD 106.06 Million.

• Cumulatively, during January - May 2021, imports into East Java amounted to USD 10.45 billion, an increase of 22.99 percent compared to January - May 2020, which was USD 8.50 billion

• The country of origin for the largest non-oil and gas imports during January - May 2021 from China amounted to USD 2.30 billion (28.29 percent), followed by the United States at USD 654.60 million (8.04 percent) and imports from India at USD 393 .82 million (4.84 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from the ASEAN group of countries amounted to USD 1.10 billion (13.51 percent), while non-oil and gas imports from the European Union reached USD 572.38 million (7.03 percent).

East Java's trade balance during May 2021 experienced a deficit of USD 390.62 million. This deficit was caused by the negative difference in trade value in the oil and gas sector which was larger than in the non-oil and gas sector, which actually had a positive trade difference. The difference in trade value in the oil and gas sector was a deficit of USD 443.07 million, while the difference in trade value in the non-oil and gas sector experienced a surplus of USD 52.45 million.
