Abstraction

In December 2019 East Java experienced inflation of 0.53 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, all experienced inflation. The highest inflation in Surabaya reached 0.60 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Probolinggo by 0.28 percent.
Of the seven expenditure groups, six groups experienced inflation and one group experienced deflation. The group experiencing the highest inflation was the Foodstuffs group of 1.57 percent, while the group that experienced deflation was the Clothing group by 0.19 percent.
The main commodities that contributed the most to inflation in East Java in December 2019 were eggs, onions, and train fares. Whereas the commodities that contributed the most to deflation were purebred chicken, gold jewelery, and pears.
The inflation rate of the calendar year in East Java in December 2019 reached 2.12 percent, this figure is lower than the calendar year inflation in December 2018 of 2.86 percent.
In December 2019 the core group experienced inflation of 0.20 percent, the government-regulated component experienced inflation of 0.53 percent, and the volatile component experienced inflation of 1.74 percent.
